Interestingly enough, I have at least begun the process of quitting smoking. I have smoked for 40 years without complaint. When the quit coach asked me how many times I have tried to quit, I quickly and most assuredly responded that I had never even had a passing thought about quitting. My wife, doctor and children want me to quit here at the last years of my life so that I will be healthier I guess. Everybody wants to be nice and healthy when they die. As I was driving back home from taking my daughter to work, I saw a license plate that said "God is in Control" "Let Go and Let God". I did notice though that the man driving was using the steering wheel, brakes, etc. If he really believed his license plate he should have put the speed control on and gone to sleep. I think that he would have been very quickly surprised to find out that God was not in control. I am glad though that he was at least showing some common sense in his driving. It got me thinking though about what this may mean to religious people. If God is in control and if should just let go does that mean we should be concerned

I am finishing up a philosophy course in death. The philosophy of death seems an odd endeavor but on second thought it is one of the most practical of undertakings. Since I myself do not have any plans which would cause me to skip death, I might as well learn a little about it.
